This is how I spent my day.
A clipboard. A whole binder full of hand receipts. Roughly twenty privates. Under the scorching New Mexico sun I stood out there and took inventory of all of my platoon’s equipment. Literally, from 0900 to 1600 without any lunch break I was out there.
It’s so tedious, so frustrating and yet with one false move I can be liable for thousands of dollars in lost property. I can’t wait to sign all this junk over to my successor. Speaking of which, I’ll relinquish my platoon in about six months…and then hopefully I’ll get an XO position at another line company. We’ll see…
