One soldier's journey through life, one photo at a time.
Physical Fitness test this morning. I got to hold the stopwatch.
Lots of failures. At least a third of my platoon is set to leave and/or get kicked out of the Army by the time my tenure as platoon leader ends. Some are getting medical discharges, others can’t meet physical fitness standards. With military budget drying up, and the wars overseas winding down, the Army is set to cut 80,000 soldiers from its ranks over the next few years. Euphemistically, it’s called the “Qualitative Management Program”, and now soldiers around here use “QMP” as a verb, synonymous with cutting out the least-qualified from our ranks.
Life is hard right now. I’ve got tons and tons of paperwork and tasks to take care of, since our company is changing commanders soon. Property. Literally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gear I must keep track of. And I have a ton of other responsibilities on top of that.
